First off I want to give Nick Olson a hugeeeeee s/o for the fantastic new WNBA Breakdown pic. Dude does a great job and I can’t wait to get to work with him some more! Thanks again Nick.
The Wed/Thur slate went pretty much how I thought it would go. Pho bounced back from losing their first game to crush Ind and Min proved once again that they’re the real deal by beating a good Ny team by 19 on the road. Brittney Griner had her first 30 point game ( I called her a must have in my article) and Fowles came back down to earth like I thought she would. The one thing that caught me off guard was Briann January, I figured at her price she would have another great game. But, her 10 fps screwed my line over. Oh well, onto the tonight’s slate.
Today, I’m just going to cover the players I like at the Studs, Mid Tier and Value spots.
F Elena Delle Donne, WAS $7,800 – E.D.D is my favorite play of this slate. She has a big matchup with LA tonight and I think she’ll go off. The former MVP scored 29 fps in 23 minutes in her first game as she was dealing with foul trouble. LA is a great team and they’ve been missing their best player Candace Parker as she’s been playing over seas. I think Parker plays tonight and that this game will be very close. I’m hoping she can stay out of foul trouble in this game and score 38-43 fps.
F Emma Meesseman, WAS $6,800 – Meesseman is a stat sheet stuffer. In her first game she had 13p, 9r, 5a, 1b, 2s for 37.3 fps. In a big game against LA I expect her to put up similar numbers. Meesseman will be severely under owned as there is a lot of other big name players on the slate. I feel safe playing her in both cash and gpp tonight. I know a lot of people will look at her price and not play her, but honestly I think it’s at a perfect spot. I’m looking for Meesseman to score 30-35 fps with ease.
F Brittney Griner, PHO $6,300 – Coming off a night where she had a career high in points and racked up 50 fps for just under 8x value Griner’s price didn’t change. I don’t see anyone on SA that will be able to stop her, so I expect another big game out of her. But, so will everyone else. She will be very high owned, but I’m looking for 30-35 fps from her.
G Tiffany Hayes, ATL $6,000 – ATL played their starters a lot in their first game and if that’s a sign for the rest of the season I will make sure to have those players in my line. Hayes seems priced fairly at $6,000 as she put up 28.7 fps in her first game and played in 30 minutes. I’m looking for 25-30 fps from her.
G Cappie Pondexter, CHI $5,300 – Pondexter had a pretty good game considering her shot wasn’t falling in her first game. She scored 9p, 3r, 5a, 2b and 1s. With E.D.D gone Chi has a lot of shots to fill and this is where Pondexter has the opportunity to crush value. Once her shot starts falling I believe her price will jump because of her usage rate and this is a spot to buy low. I expect 22-27 fps from Pondexter tonight.
G Chelsea Gray, LA $5,300 – Honestly I’m not sure how LA’s lineup will shake up once all of their players get back with the squad. They had 3 players still playing over seas that missed their first game. I have Gray here because she started the last game, so in order to play her you need to be sure she’s starting. In her first game she had 14p and 8a. If she’s starting she will be very successful because she has play makers around her like Parker and Ogwumike. I’m looking for 22-27 fps from her.
G Bria Holmes, ATL $4,500 – Like I said with Hayes ATL plays their starters a lot which leads to more opportunity for fps. Holmes played 31 minutes and scored 15p along with 4r. She’s in a good spot tonight against Chi where I expect her to score 18-23 fps.
G Danielle Robinson, PHO $4,200 – Robinson is a starter for Pho and has a lot of potential. She’s the primary ball handler since they moved Taurasi off the ball. In her first two games she has 9 and 6 assists. With both Griner and Taurasi I like Robinsons chances to keep those assist numbers up. They’re facing a SA team that has a lot of question marks with injuries and players still playing over seas. I can see Pho taking advantage of that tonight, I’m looing for 18-23 fps from her tonight.
F Imani Boyette, CHI $3,800 – Last but certainly not least is Boyette. She’s 6’7″ and seems to be getting a shot to start and play a lot ( 31 minutes in her first game). She scored 7p, 12r which was good for 18.4 fps. Only bad thing is she turned the ball over 5 times. If she can cut down on the turnovers I believe she will be a walking double- double. I think she will be low owned and has gpp upside. I’m looing for 15-20 fps from her tonight.
