Yesterday I nailed some nice value plays for you guys and today i’ll dive into GPP plays for a full Friday night slate. The main thing when building a GPP line is to find guys that will be less than 20% owned yet still hit their value (X4 their price tag). I will typically be writing GPP plays for the NBA season, so if you play tournaments on your own check out the articles. Any GPP based questions can be asked on @MonstarsDFS.
Jeff Teague @ BKN $6300
Teague is coming off of a nice debut with his new team and gets another solid matchup tonight against a terrible Brooklyn Nets team. Brooklyn gave up 122 points in their home opener and the over/under in this game is sitting at a massive 218 points right now. Jeremy Lin will be on Teague tonight and like the rest of his teammates, Lin doesn’t like to play much defense. Teague’s value puts him at 24 FD points tonight and I think he will go over that mark by around 10 points.
Tyler Johnson vs CHA $4600
Johnson played a prominent role in the Heats first game of the season and you should expect similar minutes and results again tonight. He is the main backup to Goran Dragic but is also talented enough to fill in at the 2 guard while Josh Richardson is still recovering from a knee injury. He’ll be very low owned and is more than capable of hitting his value tonight, making him a nice GPP play tonight.
Rodney Hood vs LAL $5700
Hood might be a little higher owned tonight but he still makes for a great play in tournaments. With No Gordon Hayward, Hood saw 38 minutes in home opener and will have to pick up the offensive productivity without Hayward. He came through for 35.9 FD points on Tuesday. He doesn’t bring much in other stat categories, but if he continues to play 35 minutes a game he should continue to remain productive for the Jazz.
Jordan Clarkson @ UTA $5800
On the other side of the ball in Utah tonight will be Jordan Clarkson. He’s currently playing in the sixth man role for the Lakeshow but it’s a role he’s comfortable with and has had success with. Clarkson ripped off 25 points the other night on only 12 shots and is the most talented Laker in the backcourt right now. He’s worth a look in GPP tonight.
Paul George @ BKN $9200
Assuming people pay up for LBJ or KD tonight, I really like Paul George who has a high floor and high ceiling tonight against a terrible Nets team that I mentioned earlier. Like i said before, the over/under is sitting at 218 tonight and George has the potential to take this game. He can stuff the stat sheet on any given night and I believe he’s poised for a big game tonight against the Nets. I would not be surprised if George is in some of the higher scoring lineups tonight.
Marcus Morris vs ORL $5700
His price tag is where it should be in a few months but right now I think its a tad too cheap honestly. The Pistons are without top scoring threat Reggie Jackson for a month or so and Morris will likely have to pick up the scoring for the Pistons in the meantime. He’s more than capable of contributing in other areas as well. It is also surprising that he took 8 three pointers in the Pistons first game and if that trend continues he carries solid upside. I doubt he’s highly owned but carries potential to surpass his value with ease tonight.
Anthony Davis vs GS $10800
We saw Anthony Davis’s ceiling on Wednesday night with an absurd 95 FD points on Wednesday. That truly is his ceiling and I’ll chase the points again tonight. It should be a fast paced game against the Warriors tonight with plenty of shots going around, giving him high upside in rebounds and blocks. Don’t expect another 95 points tonight, but I can’t fade him in tournaments after seeing what he’s capable of doing.
Marvin Williams @ MIA $5100
Without second year player Frank Kaminsky, Williams saw an expanded role in Wednesday nights opener against the Bucks and recorded a double double to go along with a few assists and a block. He’ll see around 30 minutes again tonight and his ceiling is around 35 FD points, making him a solid gpp option for only $5100 tonight.
Myles Turner @ BKN $6900
Like Davis, we saw what Turner’s ceiling and potential is after Wednesday nights game. Turner went off for 30 points and a career high 16 rebounds and also added 4 blocks. With crazy amount of upside against a poor team, Turner should strongly be considered in tournaments tonight.
Andre Drummond @ ORL $7800
Drummond played poorly on Wednesday night but don’t expect the big man to have another bad one tonight against the Magic. Drummond has 20/20 potential every single night and is more than affordable at $7800 on fanduel. I expect a bounce back game from Drummond tonight.
This is not a lineup you should play, these are simply plays at each position that may help you out if you need a spot or two filled! Goodluck tonight and Happy Friday!
