NFL Advice for Week 2

My week one didn’t go as planned (thanks AP and Jared Cook) but I shall not be let down again this week. In this article, I’m going to list guys I really like for cash and then a guy I like for GPP’s. Don’t be shy to ask questions for DFS or fantasy football either @MonstarsDFS.

Cash GOAT: Carson Palmer vs TB $8200

As of now, Palmer is my favorite QB to use in cash games this weekend. Tampa’s defense is awful and they will find themselves in a lot of shoot outs this year. (When was the last time you heard that about a Buccaneers team)? Last week Matt Ryan threw for 334 yards against them and Palmer is a much better QB than Ryan is. Palmer has several very talented weapons around him that the Bucs won’t be able to stop. The over/under is the second highest for the week too, set at 51. Palmer is a very safe option this week.

GPP GOAT: Jimmy Garoppolo vs MIA $7100

For his price, Jimmy G is very much tournament worthy this weekend against the Dolphins. He looked very good against a very good defense on Sunday night. I expect his numbers to be similar this weekend. If he gets Gronk back they might even improve. The problem with the Patriots is that you never know what kind of game plan Bill Belicheck is going to have, which is why I am suggesting Garoppolo as a GPP only play this weekend.

Cash GOAT: DeAngelo Williams vs Cin $7600

Is this guy impressive or what? He doesn’t look like a 33 year old that’s for sure. D-Willy had 26 carries last week for a massive 143 yards and was also second on his team in targets (9) only trailing Antonio Brown. He will virtually be on the field every down until Leveon Bell returns from his suspension, and that is the most important thing when choosing your running backs. He’s a cash lock this weekend against the Bengals, and I’m playing him in tournaments too.

GPP GOAT: Danny Woodhead vs JAC $6400

The Keenan Allen news is a big blow for the Chargers and their fans. (Does anyone actually even know a Chargers fan)? The news is not a big blow however for Danny Woodhead and his fantasy owners. Woodhead is a PPR monster, hauling in 80 catches last season, and those catches are very valuable towards his dfs value. He was on the field more than Melvin Gordon last week, and I expect the same thing this weekend agains Jacksonville. Look for Woodhead to have the most receptions on his team this weekend, as him and Phillip Rivers have proven to have very good chemistry together.

Wide Receiver

Cash GOAT: Larry Fitzgerald vs TB $7400

The top 5 wide receivers all are playable this week and I highly suggest you have one of them in your lineups. If i had to rank them in order it would be Brown, Green, Beckham, Jones, Cooks. Beckham’s matchup is juicy but I think he is slightly overpriced and I haven’t decided yet if I want to play him or fade him yet in cash.

The value play I like the most this week is Larry Fitzgerald. Carson Palmer went to him early and often last Sunday and Fitzgerald had a great game. (8 catches 81 yards 2 tds) Don’t expect two touchdowns from Fitz again on Sunday, but his usage in the Cardinals offense makes him an extremely safe cash play for his price tag, with good upside if the Cardinals have the chuck the football around again like last Sunday.

GPP GOAT: Victor Cruz VS NO $5700

Victor Cruz is a guy that’s impossible to cheer against. After suffering season ending injuries two years in a row, Cruz played his first game in 700 days last Sunday. His comeback story was a nice one, hauling in 4 catches and a TD against the Cowboys. It appears the Saints defense is still as pathetic as they were last year, and expect them to be in a shootout every single weekend. Cruz’s teammate Sterling Sheppard is also a worthy GPP play this weekend.

Tight End

Cash GOAT: Travis Kelce @ HOU $6300

Last season Kelce caught at least 4 catches in 13 games last season and he is one of the most consistent tight ends in football. He is featured in Kansas City’s offensive game plan every week and is Alex Smith’s favorite weapon. His consistency always makes him a safe cash play.

GPP GOAT: Gary Barnidge vs BAL $6000

I laughed at my friends at Fantasy Forecast when they told me they were playing Barnidge this weekend because quite frankly, I’m expecting a piss poor performance from the Browns this weekend. However, RG3’s replacement Josh McCown was basically obsessed with Barnidge last season, helping the tight end have the breakout season that he did. The floor is still really low this weekend for Barnidge, which makes him a GPP only play.

Dan Bailey vs WAS $4700

There is no such thing as a cash or gpp goat for kickers. Quite frankly picking your kicker is 90% luck anyways. It’s stupid fanduel makes you choose one instead of a flex spot. However, Bailey was 4/4 on his field goal attempts last weekend. The Cowboys offense looks more than capable of scoring and their over/under is pretty high this weekend at 48. I expect similar results from last weekend with Prescott moving the ball for the Cowboys, but having to settle for more Fgs than tds again.

Baltimore Ravens $4500

They’re more than affordable this weekend at this price and I’m playing them in both cash and gpps. Cleveland’s offense is horrible (again) and the Ravens Defense has a HUGE amount of upside this weekend. If you’re in a survivor pool, take the Ravens and thank me later. Another Defense I like is the Jets if you’re playing the Thursday-Mon slate.

Goodluck to everyone this weekend in both your DFS games and your season long fantasy games.
