MLB advice for September 7th

I really hope there is JUST ONE person out there that listened to my article from yesterday and played Elvis Andrus. If you had him in your lineups you cashed. He was less than 1% owned and went off for 46.6 points. I suggest playing tonights main slate light because there are several must plays tonight but it’s impossible to fit them into your lineups because of our salary. I will list the top play tonight and then write up a value play I like at each position. Follow me on twitter @MonstarsDFS for any questions.

Pitcher

David Price @SDP $10800

Oh boy. Here is one of the several “must haves” in your lineup. Price is poised for a 50+ fanduel outing tonight, but if you play him you can’t afford to get Coors bats and Brian Dozier in your lineup. Ultimately, Price’s ceiling makes him unfadable tonight. Boston is currently -240 favorites and the 12 points for a win on fanduel are always crucial. No team is even remotely close to this except for the Nationals (Strasburg vs ATL but first start off the DL, mehh). The Padres strike out the second most in baseball averaging a little over a K per inning and Price averages a little over a K per inning himself. It’s suicide if you fade him tonight in cash games and I honestly think he’ll score in the 60’s tonight.

Catcher

Jonathan Lucroy @SEA $3400

Buster Posey is realistically the top play today but I’d like to save the $700 and look at playing my boy Luuuuc tonight. Lucroy actually hits righties better than he hits lefties but Ariel Miranda is nothing special at pitcher with a 5.76 era and a WHIP of 1.60. In his last 7 games, Lucroy is hitting .435 with 4 double digit fanduel games mixed in there. The Rangers offense is one of the most dangerous in the MLB and there should be plenty of opportunities for Lucroy to score some points tonight.

First Base

Kendrys Morales @MIN $3100

Anthony Rizzo against Matt Garza is the play tonight if you have enough money for him. It looks like I won’t be able to afford him tonight though so I’ll throw another value play out. Morales is on a power surge in the last week and is reasonably priced. Morales has clubbed 5 home runs in the last 7 games and is facing another awful pitcher in Kyle Gibson tonight. In his last two games against the Twins, Morales has scored 31.7 and 47.9 FD points. I’m going to hope he can stay hot this series and ride with him tonight.

Second Base

Tommy La Stella @MIL $2100

This depends on where he hits in the lineup and if he’s even in it tonight. Joe Maddon has been resting some of the Cubs key players which has allowed La Stella to get some playing time. Matt Garza has lost his mojo and La Stella has a very good chance of hitting value if he’s in the lineup tonight. The top play of course is Brian Dozier who homered AGAIN last night. I can’t afford his $4600 price tag tonight since I’m pitching David Price, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he hit another bomb tonight.

Third Base

Adrian Beltre @SEA $3400

I actually think all of the top 9 third basemen tonight are playable and all have some huge potential. Since I think they all have good upside, I’m going to go with the cheapest of the bunch tonight in Beltre. As mentioned earlier, Ariel Miranda isn’t a good pitcher and Texas’ offense is rolling right now. Beltre has murdered left handed pitching throughout his hall of fame career and is slashing .333/.406/.618 against southpaws this season. He is actually my home run call of the night as well.

Shortstop

Elvis Andrus @SEA $2500

Notice a theme here? Texas right handed bats. They’re all reasonably priced and affordable tonight with Price as your pitcher. I wrote Andrus up yesterday as a safe punt play and he produced a MASSIVE scoring night, carrying me to victory. He continues to destroy lefty pitchers and once again should hit value tonight.

Outfield

Carlos Gonzalez vs COL $4000

I’m fitting two Coors hitters into my lineup tonight and Cargo is my top Coors play tonight. Gonzalez has struggled a bit since the Allstar break, but continues to be a different player when he gets to play at home. This season, Gonzalez is hitting .331 at home and 18 of his 25 home runs have come at Coors. Mix in the fact that pitcher Albert Suarez hasn’t pitched well since the Allstar break and I think Cargo has a good game tonight.

Hopefully some of these guys hit their value tonight and help you cash tonight! Good luck dfsers!
