I hope everyone enjoyed their day off of work yesterday. I certainly did as I was flirting with taking down some tournaments in both slates yesterday. We have a full slate tonight with A LOT of terrible pitchers. You can tweet me questions at @MonstarsDFS or @schmidt_faced. Side note, I absolutely hate the new fanduel layout but lets get down to business, shall we?
Brandon Finnegan vs NYM $7200
No argument from me if you want to pay up at pitcher tonight but there are some decent value plays tonight to help save up for some needed bats in your lineup tonight. This comes with some obvious risk , but I’m pitching Finnegan tonight. He has been on a tear his last three starts with 20 IP, 9 hits, 29 k’s, only 4 era and has averaged 49 fd points (1-2 record somehow). He’s settling in nicely since the Allstar break, and I expect him to continue to pitch well tonight.
Buster Posey @ COL $4000
Tyler Anderson is not a bad pitcher and I even considered pitching him tonight, but Posey vs a lefty IN COORS is too good to fade. For his career, Posey is a .324 hitter against lefties with an on base % of .388. This season, 1/3 of his home runs have come against the Rockies as well. The Giants need his bat to avoid a major collapse (only 1 game out of missing the playoffs right now) and I think he will provide some offense tonight for them and your fanduel roster.
Albert Pujols @ OAK $3600
I like the Angels offense despite playing in a pitchers friendly ballpark tonight. Pujols has already hit 3 home runs in September and Zach Neal struggles to miss bats. On the flip side, Pujols struggles to miss balls as he’s on pace for only 80 strikeouts this season. His batting average isn’t what it used to be, but the power numbers are still there for Pujols and I think he will produce some solid offense tonight.
Brian Dozier vs KAN $4300
Let me put this as nicely as possible. IF YOU FADE BRIAN DOZIER RIGHT NOW YOU WANT TO LOSE MONEY. The guy is playing better baseball than anyone in the MLB right now. Since the Allstar break, Dozier is slashing .327/.372/.763 and has hit a whopping 24 bombs. In the last 7 games alone he has 8 home runs! His price tag is high at $4300, but he’s still very affordable and is basically a must play until he either cools off or his price tag hits 5k.
Yangervis Solarte vs BOS $2900
There are some big bats going tonight at the position. If you need to save money somewhere Solarte is a solid play tonight. I tend to look at how guys have done over the last week and it looks like Solarte is starting to heat back up at the plate. In his last seven games he is hitting .333 with 2 hrs. He also gets to face Clay Buchholz tonight who is having a miserable season. (I honestly can’t believe Boston is still pitching him). Buchholz is 5-10 this season with a 5.20 era and has an extremely high WHIP of 1.49. If you decide to pay up at third tonight, I think Donaldson is the best option.
Elvis Andrus @SEA $2300
Another value play I really like tonight is Andrus against James Paxton. Andrus is extremely consistent as he’s hitting .294 this season which allows him to be a very safe punt at this price tag. For the season, he has torched left handed pitching all year and he’s hitting .355 against southpaws. All Andrus has to do to hit value is get a single or draw a walk and score a run. He’s a safe punt tonight.
Mike Trout @OAK $4500
I feel bad for Mike Trout despite him having millions of more dollars than I do. He is being wasted in LA. Trout is having an MVP type season yet again. He is still the best player in all of baseball, but it seems like he is going unnoticed this season since his team is so terrible. I don’t need to get into any numbers because if you pay attention to sports you know the guy is a stud. He’s averaged 23.4 fanduel points in his last 7 games and because of that I will be locking him into my lineup tonight. He’s also my home run call of the night.
Good luck to you dfsers this evening!
