GPP Advice for Monday 8/22

Hey guys! My name is Derek and I will be writing DFS GPP articles for NFL this season, but I figured I’d get a little bit of practice starting with some MLB tonight. In my 2.5 years of playing DFS I have won some huge GPP prizes and want to contribute my thoughts and ideas. When building a GPP line, ALWAYS look for guys that are priced wrong and should easily exceed their value. Also, you want to target guys that will be low owned in tournaments— thats what separates you from the rest of the field. Feel free to follow me on twitter @schmidt_faced and ask any questions!

David Price @ Rays $10,000

Even though he is somewhat pricey, (see what i did there?) I will be using him in my GPP lines tonight. Tampa is a very friendly pitchers park and quite frankly their lineup stinks. They strikeout way too often (3rd most in the MLB) and struggle to manufacture runs. Price has averaged a solid 35 fantasy points per start this year, and I fully expect him to score more than that tonight.

Gary Sanchez @ Mariners $2900

My fellow writers here at have already touched on him today so i’ll keep it short and sweet. He is mispriced on Fanduel and should be taken advantage of while you still can.

First Base

Chris Carter vs Rockies $3400

I expect this game to hit the over of 9 runs tonight and I also expect Chris Carter to contribute to this. Chad Bettis is not a good pitcher and misses bats, which should give Carter a boost in production tonight. Milwaukee is also a home run friendly park for hitters. Twenty of Carters 29 home runs have come at Miller Park, and he is my home run pick of the day today.

Second Base

Jean Segura vs Braves $3500

Segura is quietly having a GREAT season this year. He is hitting .320 with 11 hrs and 27 steals. Arizona has the highest implied run total tonight of 5.5 and leading off against Mike Foltynewicz should allow Segura to see 5 at bats tonight. He may be a little higher owned than I’d like tonight, but he is the best value play at the position tonight.

Third Base

Jose Ramirez @ A’s $3300

This guy rakes and is way too cheap to pass on! I have been riding him and his cheap price tag out for the last two weeks and he has been as solid as they come. Coming into tonight’s game at Oakland, Ramirez his hitting .383 in August and has recorded a hit in 24 out of his last 25 games played! That is red hot. Not to mention for gpp, I think Jake Lamb will be fairly high owned, giving you an edge if Ramirez stays hot at the plate.

JJ Hardy vs Nationals $2300

Like his teammates, Hardy is priced as if he is facing Strasburg tonight. The hitting environment looks good in Baltimore tonight and I wouldn’t be surprised if Hardy blasted one out despite his power numbers being down (Only 7 Hrs). If you need a reliable punt in your lineup tonight, JJ is that guy.

David Dahl @ Brewers $3500

We all know the Rockies can hit the long ball. As I stated earlier with Chris Carter, Milwaukee isn’t Coors, but it also isn’t that far behind. Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson has actually faired much better at home this season (2.79 era) than he has been on the road. However, Nelson struggles to keep the ball on the ground and he also struggles mightily against leadoff hitters. Leadoff hitters this season are hitting .369 against him with an OB% of a MASSIVE  .494 average (Dahl is leading off tonight with Blackmon still hurt). Like I stated earlier, I think this game will be high scoring and Dahl should see 5 abs tonight.

Hopefully this article helps you guys out tonight and I can help you make some money in tournaments tonight! Good luck and don’t forget to ask me any questions you might have!
